Trusting Beauty Bloggers

Thanks to blogging, it has never been easier for people to express themselves and share their opinions on everything, including make up and skincare. People used to read magazines to see the latest beauty products, find out about them and get other peoples opinions. But now they can see everything online, on blogs and in videos. But this raises the question, how much can you trust these new beauty influencers?

Here are just a few reasons why you should and shouldn't trust the beauty bloggers and influencers.

1. Sometimes bloggers and influencers will be paid to promote a product, but legally this always has to be stated, with either 'AD' or 'Contains Paid Promotion'. This is no different from a magazine running an advert for the product.

2. Some people say they don't trust bloggers beause they have been sent products for free, through PR lists and at press events. If this is the case then you shouldn't trust magazines either, as they also get sent products for the same reason, the brands want them to feature it in their magazines or website.

3. A lot of beauty bloggers aren't experts, they dont have dermatology degrees, they just try a lot of skin care and make up and write their opinions online for everyone else to see. But this doesn't mean you can't trust them. If your friend recommended a product but wasn't an expert, would you listen to them? Probably. You would go into store and look at the product, try the testers and see what you think.

4. Most blogs grow through their reputation, and use this to gain followers trust and loyalty. Recommending bad products will get them nowhere. Their audience will lose trust in them and go somewhere else for advice.

5. A lot of people rely on beauty influencers to decide what products to buy and what to spend money on. If they lie you won't trust them, therefore you will unfollo them, resulting in a bad reputation and failure.

6. The majority of bloggers do it for fun, they don't want to offend anyone. Usually if they do not like a product they simply wouldn't feature it, rather than trash it and risk ending up on the bad side of the brand.

Next time you read a bloggers review, I hope you can trust them.
